hi , my names brian and i have a 1992 defender 90 2.5td with 99k on the clock, ive had her for 5 years and she has served me well, doing some moderate off roading to my stalking grounds,, she putts along nicely on the motorway at 55mph , but when we hit an incline this falls to about 30mph,,

on the stalking forum the general opinion is that the 2.5td is crap:eek: lol

id rather not replace the lump as its never let me down so the question is what could i do to give it some extra power:cool:

I have one too. My engine is 25 years old according to lr and pulls better than that. Have you done air filter recently and glow plugs?

I have a safari front facing snorkle and my breather pipe goes to atmosphere, not the air box.

I will however be doing the conversion, simple apparently and worth it having driven another.

When I got my '90' she was a 2.5 n/a and plodded around quite happy until a friend offered me his rotten disco for organ donation , never looked back the difference is awsome, just wish I had put disco transfer box in at the same time to get better revs at cruising speeds .
