I took a fancy to a TD5 Discovery, which i think is the correct name for it.
I looked around and test drive a couple locally and very nearly bought a cheap 1996 Disco for £1500.. Then on the way home we came passed a local garage and they had a 2001 on the forcourt that came in only the day before.
Drove it this afternoon, bartered a little, and bought it later this afternoon.
New ticket going on it and should be on the drive by thursday afternoon 108,000 miles Turbo Diesel Manual and only 2 owners.
Seems to be a gooden, but you can't really tell i guess until you abuse it.
I checked for leaking sunroofs, oils and fluids are all cleanish, so not dirty but changed in recent months according to service history. There no
major dents or rot underneath.
My only reservation is that i might have bought the wrong model for what i want to do, apparently i should have bought a disco with Diff lock ?
but hey ho.. it will be fun to learn from my own mistakes !
The misses is keen to get it onto some green lanes with a few locals who already offroad and green lane, so with some guidance and experience hopefully in time we should be up for some longer trips and a bit of fun !!
