120k on the clock, only advisory on the new MOT is that the chassis has been undersealed - garage welded some plates in at the back. Spotted the buying guide so will be double checking that. Mostly what I'm interested in is what to watch for, driving advice (I've only driven regular cars before) and that kind of thing. For example I feel like it wants me to change up later than I'm used to; I don't know if that's right or if I need to get used to the difference. In all honesty we bought it mostly for the space for camping equipment

I'm also looking at an engine remap, which I've seen good things about on here.

Thanks for any help!

Just drive it for a few hundred miles before changing anything, you will probably get used to the different feel quicker than you think and be happy with it. Let the engine noise be your guide to gear changes. Good luck and welcome to the zone.

Much as Col has said, get to know the vehicle before you start changing things.
Driving a Land Rover isn't that much different to driving any other vehicle really but you will notice the higher driving position and the general more robust feel of everything. Regarding driving a diesel, there's little to worry about, under normal conditions the turbo is there to make it feel a bit more like a petrol vehicle to drive, but you might find it a tad sluggish when pulling away especially up hill.
Regarding the "toys" and off-road driving, for all normal conditions and many not so normal conditions, you should keep the transfer box, the Hi/Lo ratio lever in the Hi position. You should also read and get to know the chapter in the Owner's Handbook about off-road driving. If you don't have one then you can download the workshop manual complete with the various owner's manuals from:-

Driving position is brilliant, though view out the back isn't, haha. Interestingly its easier to reverse bay park than my Volvo estate - I have room to move to get a better view in the mirrors.
Pulling off isn't that much different, and its fun to feel the turbo kick in :D. But I got it backwards in my OP; it feels like it wants 4th already when I'm only a little above 20, and 5th by 35. Just seems strange to me.

When im not booting the fook out of mine I am always in gears which I guess would be considered high for the speed, generally go up to:
1st - 5mph
2nd - 10-15mph
3rd 25mph
4th - 35mph
5th - anything over 35mph
maybe if its a flat road might get it in 5th at 30mph
But thats just fuel saving, if I want to go a bit quicker but not mad I'll just put it up to around 3000RPM in each gear before changing, and of course putting it up to 4k wont hurt it but it might hurt your wallet.
But if you ever got some basic mods done to it and had it remapped the difference is absolutely amazing, you barely have to give it anything for it to pull hard.

If it has air suspension you'll find its a really nice ride quality, you can see the 2 air bags instead of springs on the rear suspension, but they do get converted to springs a lot due to small problems.
If it has ACE, there will be a tank next to the power steering with a vehicle symbol and 2 arrows pointing to its side, will show on dash light check too. If it does you will also find it handles better than some small cars, and probably the best handling 4x4 you'll drive, with little to no body roll, its like an f1 car :p:p

As mentioned the second "gearstick" you leave in High range, which is normal driving, you put it in low when off roading etc, very useful in snow as the engine braking is increased, it can be used on normal roads etc, wont hurt it but you can only do around 30mph before your topping out 5th gear.

Ohhh it also has one of those fancy auto dimming mirrors, for the past 2 years I thought I had a tinted rear window... till I put my phone flashlight on the mirror and it turned blue.... fancy eh :p:p
