Hi everyone. I am not only new to the zone but also new to ownership. Just posted my first message about my clutch problem on my TD4 Freelander. Desperate to know what to do with the garage who charged a fortune and made it all worse.

Just in case my first message got lost...

My clutch pedal stuck down and had to be lifted with the foot. The replaced cylinder (presume slave) and also did the clutch for £510. Next day pedal stuck down again. Also judders in first (did not with the old clutch). they tried to get me to buy a new flywheel as he said old one was a bit worn. Could not afford that.

It went in with clutch sticking came out with intermitent sticking and judder. I am about to stop the cheque for payment. What should I do in the morning when garage opens?

if you do stop the cheque, be very careful about leaving your freelander with them to fix, because they could just keep it until you pay their first bill.

Hence contacting trading standards for advice - ^^^^^^ is so true, but then , I think you have to give them the opportunity to rectify the fault. That is why i suggest the letter explaining why you have stopped the cheque and the statement that yu will pay in full, when the work is carried out to your satisfaction. Maybe subject to an independent assessment?

OOPs - see other fred
