Hi all, My name is Steve and I am from New Zealand. Over the years I have owned a number of Land Rovers: S11a SWB, S11a 109 pick-up, S3 SWB Safari and in 2006 I bought new a Range Rover Sport TDV6. but my most valued and prized possession is my 91 90 County V8 done only 70 000kms or 44 000 miles depending on where you live, always garaged, has never towed or been off road, its like new and my sweet ride. Other than the four barrelled manifold and carb plus extractors through to a full 2'' stainless exhaust system, all the running gear is stock. On the outside I have fitted alloys, KBX grill and vents, Led lights, Stainless side-steps & nudge-bar with driving lights. It has just had a full service for its 70k at which time I have changed all fluids to castrol products and have chosen to run with the VMX80 in the LT85 box which has been a change for the better.

Hi Easye1, Thanks for the welcome, Yeah I know a little, but as they say, you never stop learning, so I'm sure there's plenty for me to learn from you guys, and by the same token i would like to think that I could be of some assistance to someone as well.

Welcome from another NZ'er. In the same predicament as you. I have a 110 v8 and also a sport in the family. What part of NZ you in? Castol oil good and the same as they use at Land Rover. Just don't use the flash oils in your engine.

Hi Rappy1,

Good to hear from you. We are in Cambridge and Taupo, soon to be living permanently down there as we have a place in Kinloch. With regards to oil, I have just changed to using Castrol Magnatec in the engine, What do think ? Cheers

You want to use something thick containing lots of zinc or some form of treatment to look after the cam and lifters. Castrol Magnatec great for modern engines but probably a little to harsh for older engines like the Rover. Such a shame as i have unlimited supply of it. See if you can find the good old oils in shops that deal in hot roads and yank tanks.
I know Segedins auto spares sell Royal Puple oil which would be the ultimate for these engines.
Always use to holiday in Taupo so i know Kinloch.

Hi TPONZ,
Welcome to the club, with regard to engine oil I read a tuning book for the rover V8 which said that that the oil pump is a high volume low pressure unit which is better at pumping a thicker oil than thin oil.
I always use a good 15w/40 167,000k's no rattles from the cam yet.

Welcome to the party Steve.:)

Take it offroad then ya fairy! Its what they're meant for :p
Hey I have done my fair share off roading, as part of my everyday work, and its alone in the bush unlike most that attend the staged club events with set out tracks and people on hand if things go wrong. This particular vehicle is special and given that I do have others to use, I don't need to push this one through the ****.

Hey, I would quite like to see photos of what you own ?

I'll trade you ;) Now get a pic of yours up :)
