Hi all
New to the forum as just purchased a D reg 90 TD at the weekend, which supposedly had a recon around 120k.
i have the following issues which might be more than I can handle, but thought I'd test the water and see who might be able to help.
It's a bad cold starter - leave the glow plugs on around 30 sec and it'll turn then die, try again and it does the same thing, 3rd attempt usually we get more of a splutter and with a bit of throttle will get going then finally idle. Any suggestions as all glow plugs are new - fuel related maybe?
It blows out white smoke, and does so continally which i think is unburnt Diesel. There is also a valve on top of the head (in the middle) that is also smoking away.
I've taken the pipe off from the turbo and found oil in it, so presumed it was spraying over the air filter, opening the air filter box and found NO AIR FILTER - and a nice puddle of oil! I'm guessing the previous owner removed the filter as it was probably knackered after an hours use...
I'm confused as to why oil is blowing through there, but am guessing that if this problem is solved, i won't have the smoking problem?
Any advice would be greatly appreciated as it's a great little 90 with a pretty good chassis so I think it's got potential to be tarted up as the months drift on.
Thanks
Carl
