new to land rovers

I've just aquired a disco1 300tdi van, it's done 280,000 miles but the engine is out of a jap inport and has only done 60,000. It will stand me at £1500 as it is. It is guaranteed, anything goes wrong with it I take it back. I am putting rear seats, belts, windows and anything else it needs in as I need a car. Am I mad?
