I have a Freelander (petrol) 1.8 XEI softback purchased second hand for work purposes, after a day the head gasket blew. Now sitting in a garage with no engine. All else about this car is very good condition. looking to get a price for spares/repair and have absolutely no idea! Never had a freelander before and dont know much about them, (or any other cars for that matter)! Car was bought on trust, on by behalf and not by me personally), only to find out warning lights had been disconnected. T Reg 1999, (1st reg). Live in the Highlands and just want to try and recover some money on it. Any advice/help would be appreciated.

C'est la vie! The matches, petrol idea was thought of but not feasible. There are alot of good parts to this Freelander and I thought on the off chance it might generate interest among the experts here, wasn't easy to come to a site where so much knowledge is shared by those who obviously know their subject so well, and admit to such a basic and stupid error, (even if not my own, I played a part), but now that am here i think I'll stay, it's always good to read what people say when they know what they are talkin about and the 'banter looks good!' If anyone out there is interested please let me know, can supply e-mail address for contact.
