New swivels advice needed.

Purchased new swivels (britpart kit) and they have arrived with a small ridge on the chrome face. It's feels about 25 thou and looks like it's outside the swept edge of seal. Just wondered is this normal and ok to fit as the ones I'm taking off are smooth across the entire chrome face.

I can’t remember what mine looked like but I’d be more worried if the bearings fit nice and snug. Britparts rarely do. I’m not even sure if anyone else is making them so there is very little choice.

I got some from Dingocroft, pretty sure they weren't BP but that was a couple of years back now.

To answer your question. BP are as we know a wee bit suspect on supplier source. Given the fact the the face of the swivel needs to be consistently smooth I’d take it to a machine shop to get the surface checked. Problem is the coating on the swivel needs to be perfect to create the seal so not sure how easy that is to skim.

If it is the line shown in your pic seal should not reach that point .

Thanks just wanted to know if anyone had come across it before. Will start to put them back together tomorrow and let you know how I get on.

Happy to say swivels seem to be ok, as Blackburn said seal doesn't pass over ridge.
