I like the look of that also, once I have ironed out a few other issues on mine I will be attacking that.

Is the blue wore the same on all aftermarket head units?

Update for me, I part the incartec iso to iso adapter for the Harman Kardon amps and it worked for 10 minutes now won't work anymore !

I have no idea whats going on, with the factory head unit back in it all works fine, amp comes on etc, with the new head unit in and the incartec leads connected nothing at all, stangely enough I am seeing voltage on all pins using a voltmeter including the amp turn on wire, though I am not sure what the correct voltage should be for that cable, whether I use the incartec cable or connect the blue wire from the back of headunit directly to the purple/yellow cable the amp still won't turn on.

Any ideas what I maybe doing wrong or anything else I can try?

As I said initially when using the incartec cable it worked fine and sounded amazing then it just cut out, occasionally if I disconnect the incartec cable and reconnect it 10 minutes later it will produce sound for literally a second then stop again. A video online showed the inside of one of those devices and they look amazingly simple so I don't know if its that or not, but as I said I am still showing voltage on all the pins for the speaker output.

I have exhausted all my ideas. Anyone know what voltage is required for the amp turn on wire or anything else I can try?

Maybe you should contact the supplier of the box, as it sounds faulty.

Hmm, well the blue wire voltage is 8volts so decided to start the car and the car won't start, showing 10v at the battery. Guess flat battery?

But saying that the car has only been off the road 6 days, seems a short time for a battery to discharge?

    That could do it.
It should stay healthy for longer than that. However it's dependent on power drain in that time, like how many times it's been started? or how long has the stereo been playing? Or how long the doors have been open? All these will discharge the battery, which will go flat, especially if it's on its last legs.

Well lesson learned, check the simple things first. Put the jump pack on it and fired straight up then so did the amp!

Its been off road for about 8 days, doors open and closed a lot in that time, started once for 5 minutes if that, stereo was banging out the tunes for 10 mins when first installed. Still surprised the battery died as it did, will have to see if there is anything about that can check the condition of a battery.

Rather than clog up a new thread, new stereo all installed, fully working and sounds awesome, much better than the factory unit however DAB+ is incredibly dissapointing with lots of drop outs!

That's normal DAB service I'm afraid. We've used FM in all our DAB equipped vehicles, as the reception is too patchy.

Thankfully I did attach the FM antenna so can get "normal" radio but must admit it was thoroughly dissapointing, thought dab was the future, kind of reminds me of "ondigital" saying you will no longer have interference, see how well that turned out :)

DAB is a high frequency transmission, so is very susceptible to signal black spots, just as the mobile phone network is susceptible to signal black spots. Unfortunately with a data transmission, signal black spots means no data, hence no sound. FM being a much lower frequency, so penetrating buildings and other structures more readily. FM is also analog, meaning that the sound is still there, when the signal is week.

Digital is fine in strong signal areas while stationary, like in a home HiFi, but mobile in a car, it's pointless.

I agree, worked perfectly when the car was in my garage, when I started moving it was awful, even to the point of stopping and checking the aerial was plugged in!

Our last 4 lease cars have had DAB HUs. All 4 cars have been from different manufacturers, and all have the same issues on DAB. IMHO it's not worth paying extra for DAB, is it's pretty useless most of the time.

Yes indeed, wish I had known that before getting the HU, though it does sound amazing and has other features, I did think I would be cruising along listening to some DAB stations, now I am cruising along praying I can actually listen to anything.
