Hi All ,
Was hoping for a bit of guidance , recently changed my fuel pump TO a bearmach one with a glass bowl , the old pump didn't have a bowl . No problems with the fit I thought , however now although the landy runs the fuel flow rate seems barely sufficient , the inline filter has little more than a tablespoon in it at any time , certainly not 1/2 full as remember the old one did when it was working . I've read that it could just be a dodgy pump , so thought this xmas break to replace it . However before I do , I'm not sure if the issue may have something to do with the pump arm / crank position . It was not a like for like part swap , so could I have messed up the pump stroke ?. Am I talking nonsense , just don't want to refit another pump incorrectly again .
Any advise much appreciated
Cheers & Merry Xmas
Steve

If the pump was incorrect on the camshaft lobe it would not work at all. Check fuel pick up pipe in tank is clear. How does the pump work with the hand lever?

I had a britpart one on a 2.5nad that didn't work properly, turned out to be the cam arm was made wrong and it wasnt giving a full stroke.

Interesting , I don,t have the old one - threw it away , and can’t recall if there was a spacer , will check I seem to recall an issue with the bolt length , so will bear that in mind - Ta

What engine have you got fitted?
What is the part number you purchased?
Defender unit has spacers series engines no spacer. Spacer usually about 8mm thick.
200tdi parts book shows spacers but mine did not have one fitted.

Hi - 2.25 petrol fitted and bearmach ERC9594 pump fitted , so no spacer would be correct , was just wondering if you need to have the engine at TDC when you fit , or does that make no difference

Does it run OK, it could be getting air in the line but still pumping OK. Can you recover the old pump? It may be worth geting an overhaul kit fot it.

I've just gone through 2 new fuel pumps both not working. They were Britpart although the seller has said he has more problems with Bearmach ones. I have now fitted an electric pump as I was fed up not having a car to use.
