Well last night i replaced the brake servo

WHAT A DIFFERENCE! finally i have brakes that actually work without making my right leg into a Russian shot putters.

Ok it pulls quite scarily to oneside still.... but thats by the by!

Also fitted some a pair of 3 man bench seats in the back which i got from a nice chap in newcastle (yes they exist!) for a cheap 20 notes :)

Fitted some A/T tyres to replace the mud terrains and its notably quiter and with less rolling resistance so the mpg should creep up a bit too.

well the mpg is now up to about 27 from 22. Which is much much better.

I had also tweaked the fuel pump as it was belching black smoke under load. Now just the slightest haze and it pulls better too.

Theres an annoying booming which is really loud. Its been present for a while ...i think since i replaced the bonnet for one which doesnt have a sound deadening pad on it. So im going to fit a pad and hopefully that should reduce it. Also going to try disconnecting the snorkel to see if its coming from that.

I also fitted a new 20" electric fan to replace the 6" one that was fitted by the previous owner!!!!! What they were thinking when the fitted that I have no idea.

ting tong land
Sorry for going backwards but been working away on some god forsaken council estate in Carlow. Fight between tenants first day and saw 100k getting stripped off a 01 passats clock by a pikey the next. Anyway i digress. Was looking at a site called aliexpress. loads of replica stucff for peanuts including light bars. Does yours have the spots at each end?( different size leds for the last 6 or 8 inches at each end of the bar)
Looking good btw

i cant understand whats causing it.

maybe the slop in the drive train is causing shock loading which is shearing the splines off?

ohhh not much lateral float, 5mm ish

With the drive member removed, how loose should the shaft be into the axle? Should it be slopping around like wolfs swit swoo in a virgin or gripped like eerr.. (I cant think of a mildly rude analogy)

haven't a clue, but i have a 300 defender axle here if you need it.

i'm guessing yours is a 2.5/200 drum sal?

aye it is, is your a salisbury? If so I might as well have that as well. I really should just buy the whole flipping lot off you shouldnt i haha

ive ordered a set of hubcentric spacers (30mm) to fit some boost alloys and 235 85 16 general grabbers on boost alloys I bought last week. Hopefully they will improve the MPG slightly over the 33 12.5 MT's that are on it already.

Doing 1000 miles a week means a bit of an improvement in the mpg goes along way!
