yeah ive got the seal onto the glass bit covered i have a set of sykes pickavent trim tools nd they are wonderous for fitting seals. - spent last night putting the filler strip in the rear quarters with them as they were better at it than the real tool !

- ill probably reuse the bearmach seal i have fitted to the glass atm IF i can get it out in tact. as its "shaped" and i only fitted it 3 weeks ago :D

Ah right yeah should be fine :) I did put mine in a bucket of really hot water for 10 minutes which seemed to help it. And the water was yellow after. I presume release agent from the mould.

Just ordered a set of big bore +50mm rear shocks to match the fronts I already have fitted.

Went to fit the new rear springs. The new ones are made of 16.7mm steel. Old ones 21mm! ! Discovered the space previous owner had fitted these extra strong and long rear springs with normal length shocks. Urgh. Previous owners.

sure the big bores won't be too hard? you aren't carrying that much are you?

Quick one vil , what are you using for your feed to the diamondback kit ?

Just thinking the instructions say - connect fused live straight to battery or alternator how ever i suspect you could easy leave it on by some mistake and drain your battery quite easy. Wont take long for that thing to drain ya battery.

Wondering if i could steal off the glow plug relay feed or perhaps i need to rig up another relay with a feed from alternator and an ignition switched feed on the other side and take my diamondback feed from there.

On my last 110 csw I found the big bores very comfortable and that had nothing in it either. As top drive mentions they are there to have a large capacity so as to prevent overheating and losing all your damping :)

I only bought them for my last one as I thought they are very reasonably priced and I liked the 20mm piston rod ;)

Aint the point of big bores to stop em getting hot under load . Not that they are stiffer. The springs do that part ?

i thought that too, re springs making it firm, but just going from terrafirma webby

"Coincidentally fitting the Big Bore expedition shocks to a light or un-laden Land Rover gives a firm, sporty handling characteristic often sought after by the more performance orientated driver."

sporty.. fender! maaaaaaaaaaaadness

Well it switches off automatically after 8 minutes (as standard) so I was going to connect it to the ancillary fusebox I fitted behind my dash console which has a direct feed from the battery. I guess you could rig up a solenoid off an ignition feed but I don't see the harm it's not huge watts and if you left it on it'd only be on for those 8 minutes. If you reprogramme it so it could be left on then I would want a switched live.

Edit.

Having said that I think it resets if you remove power so to me that's intrinsically safe ?

also where is this reasonably priced malarky? thought it was about 80-100 for a pair (i need new shocks still)

£96.77 from island 4x4 inc delivery

thats for +50mm rears

you can have the ones i am removing if you dont have a lift fitted?

Guess its not like im trying to run it off an aa battery is it... Optima red top :)

Can always re-think it if i have issues down the line.

yeah itll be reet  as you say.. sort it after if there is a problem.

From what i have seen on the tinterweb itll draw about 26 amps.. so 0.3 kwh

Your battery will handle that easy if its set to the 8 min setting :)

cheers for the offer. they any good? i'm really after the fronts. i was going to change the lot and springs last month, but now i'm waiting until it's warmer ;)

id already binned the fronts to be honest. Sorry.

Yeah i went to change the springs yesterday but it was chucking it down so i quickly gave up:eek:

Suns out today so been out and changed the switches on me dash console to lickle ones which have the legends for my led light bar and led rear work lights already on. :)

Its the little things that make the difference ;)

Ordered a big wedge shaped aluminium roof box from "metallics" last night too :)
