hi i currently run a transit recovery truck but thinking of changing to a discovery 300tdi manual and a car transporter trailer for added payload i know that the disco is more than capable of towing the wieght but my main concern is that the disco+trailer will be alot more expensive to run than the tranny so has anybody got experience of towing heavey loads and give me a rough idea of mpg please

should'nt be a great deal of differance on mpg (if you drive sensible) and will probably be better than the older trani vans

20ish to 30ish mpg sounds reasonable depending on weight

My 200 gives me 28 mpg on average, but when the transporter is hooked up it drops to 20 mpg.

my 300 auto gives me 24 on average and doesn't change when the transporter is hooked up!

i reckon you will get between 10-39mpg

About 23-25mpg with a 2 tonne load on.
