New member. Problem with priming!

Howdy! Am new to this forum malarky so please bear with me. Having a problem priming my 90td. Fitted a replacement engine yesterdat with no probs but cannot seem to prime. Only have Haynes manual and it's useless. Have ensured lift pump is off cam, but pumping does not seem to suck fuel through? What to do?

How do lad. Have you checked the obvious i.e. fuel in the tank, fuel pipes on right way round and fuel pipe not blocked?
