hi all just bought my 1st p38 4.0 which runs on lpg, i have been running the car since sunday were it had quarter of a tank of fuel in(petrol) the rr stars on petrol then switches over to lpg i have done 80 miles so far and its used nearly quarter of a tank of petrol already, and iam only running petrol for 1 mile in morning and quarter of a mile after start up during day. its a single point lpg system , is this the norm??/

I had classic rangie on a single point LPG system (about 10 years ago) and I did not use anywhere near as much petrol as that. Car ran very well on LPG and like yours switched over to LPG automatically. Check for leaks on the petrol return pipes. On mine the petrol pump was not turned off when running on LPG the petrol just kept running around the system without being injected. If the petrol is not being returned to the tank that could be your problem. Hope this helps
 
Ditto what Enery8 says, also Don't take too much notice of guage needle.......at 1/4 tank I know I have about 90ish miles left........pooter (in my case ) far more accurate, though others have seen pooter say 24mpg when really getting 19-20!

mine does the same thing, open the filler cap and let it vent the pressure out, after i do this the gauge goes back up!!!
 
get the software and lead for your lpg system, set it so that you change the fuel over!!

so first thing in a morning you will run on petrol til temp needle lifts off the bottom, just by a fraction. then throughout the day just run straight on gas!! im running straight on gas, even in a morning and its fine.

if you have a switch for the lpg you can start straight on gas my turning ign on then fiddling to and fro with the lpg switch and ending on it switch to lpg. the lpg light will stay on and you start on lpg!!

you can do it with a button type by pressing and holding the button for 5 seconds

the auto changeover is useless and really if for folks who have no desire to learn about thier cars. or the newer more advanced system!! lol!!!

thats the best bit of advice i have had and understand so i will try that thanks simon
 
are you going by the gauge?or by how much you have to put in to fill it back up?.the reason i ask is on my vehicle the gauge displays what the computer tells it to based on how much fuel "should" have left the tank after counting the injector pulses.the vehicle is unaware thet the lpg is there, my vehicle displays zero when there is over half a tank still in there!!(run it purely on petrol and the gauge is accurate)

Your vehicle is a P38? I've never heard of that before.

Mine seems to guzzle petrol too, but I think I have a leak somewhere round the tank. Buggered if I can find it, but it does smell of petrol underneath.

My guage just makes it up as it goes along when it gets near the empty mark. It moves about either side of the E mark.
