Fitted a new lift pump ( Britpart) to my 200tdi a week or so ago, and everything was running bloody great again.. engine was smooth, and so much more responsive.

Now, after a 4 hour journey its running no where near as good as it was. the power and torque delivery is not as strong as it was, and the Landy just go as smoothly as before.

Could there be a chance the Britpart pump is faulty?
I don't have a lot of faith in Britpart bits !

Or should I now be looking elsewhere for the solution.

Would appreciate any help on this, as it's doing my head in !

Thanks

am sure if you do a search on here yule find atleast one other that has had a faulty britpart pump. i can't remember who it was but there is one.
have you disconnected the pipe to check fer fuel delivery?

Do I disconnect to check see if fuel is going into the pump, or from leaving the pump?

Also, should the pump leaver self return to the horizontal position?

I did a search but couldn't find a thread Slob, but the fact that you have heard of them failing - makes me think this is yet another piece of shoddy Britpart workmanship.

Basically it feels the same as it did before I changed the pump.

Have to do a lot more gearchanges to keep it going, and if you need to it some throttle - then it kind of spurt of power, then nothing really just lots of engine noise, but without the power output you'd expect ( if that makes any sense)

After fitting a new lift pump to mine it started running weak, having to gear down a lot I unscrewed the fuel filter and before it came off i could see tons of crap sat inside which obviosly restricts flow... could be that the old pump was fooked for a while then when ya stick a new one on they (by comparison) suck like foook pulling all the crap up that the old pump couln't.... Good look fellow angler;)

I suppose a restriction in fuel would affect the puff of black smoke on start up.

Normally when the old girl is running well she gives a good puff of black on start up - at the moment its just a whiff of black of smoke.

Just waiting for my filter to arrive now....

Got a new filter, but before I put it on everything has returned to normal.

( apart from my steering pump giving up:mad)

The old girls driving lovely again - what's that all about then?

Crap in the tank.
And by that i mean thats what you have not what you should do :)

Also had it recently on another vehicle and had a rubber hose from the tank breaking down internally.

What was your landy running like before and what made you change it as ours is idling crap now with low performance.
