Hi all. Just bought the good lady an FL2 and love it. I'm looking forward to a bit of customisation and involvement from these forums.

Anyway i have fitted a double din Pioneer headunit to Mrs Nutt's car but it's raised a couple of questions and I could do with some help otherwise I'll be in hot water with she who must be spoilt.

1. Since fitting the headunit we haven't heard a peep out of the reversing sensors (even when I reversed into someones car)
2. The screen stays bright even when it's dark and the settings are set to automatic. Looks like I have to attached a wire to let the satnav know when the lights are on.

Additionally I need to sort out the wheel speed sensors and find a 12v line that is on when the key is in the ignition as currently the engine needs to be running. But these are different, lower priorities.

For now any help with points 1 & 2 are very much appreciated.

Thanks

The PDC plays out through the Stereo on FL2 Afaik.

Rear PDC plays through rear speakers and front PDC plays through front speakers.

Since you have disconnected your ICM that functionality will no longer work.

I think the solution is to find an additional buzzer, but im not 100% as to the wiring configuration.

Right, I'll try to install a parking sensor set and/or reversing camera.

Can anything help me with the wire to the head light circuit?

I looked at the diagram posted by englishbullterrier but it doesn't really mean anything to me?

Thanks

I am pretty sure ive seen the rear PDC fitted with an additional little buzzer when the standard factory headunit was replaced. Isnt looking into that an easier idea than fitting new sensors or a reverse camera?

I'm sure it would be but since I have near zero sparky skills I was kinda hoping someone would offer some more detailed advice or a linky?

Personally Mrs Nutt will be happy with a camera but I'm used to bleepy sensors as thats what my car does

His is a FL2, which routes the signal information from the PDC through the headunit, so it can mute the radio when it tones.

FL1 uses seperate buzzers in the back, so changing the radio wouldnt affect PDC in FL1.

Hmmm....if that's the case, a head unit with an "aux mix" feature would do it.

Similar to mine that mixes my satnav output with the headunit output (cd/tuner etc) but does so whilst attenuating it.

I have just fitted an Xtrons head unit in my 2007 FL2 which works great plus a DAB... the parking sensors are a problem though... I have bought a Slimkey CanBus unit but the wiring chart is next to useless... white and green need to be connected but the wiring charts from Paser dont match... their italian helpdesk is... well italian... any help on wiring would be appreciated...

This was for sale on here a while back. It's plug and play and all you need. ;)https://www.landyzone.co.uk/land-rover/freelander-2-stereo-wiring-can-bus-interface.291346/

Hi Kevin

Sorry, I know this is an old thread but I am just trying to install an xtrons head unit into my fl2 but hardly any if the c9nnectors match the fl2. How did you connect power to the unit? The fl2 power connectors for the factory head unit, radio etc d9nt fit the xtrons at all

Cheers

Just fitting one myself. I assume since you wrote this in July yours is all done.
I have found the live on the radio and an acc signal from the dog socket. Then there's the 3 wires on the smaller plug in the radio for the line in (how xtron will play it's audio). What I have not found is am illumination signal. Did you find one? Otherwise I have to run a wire all the way to the side lights or a lit switch somewhere if I can get to the back of one.
Cheers
James

Pretty much all the connections you need are in the multi connector. Im sure it is all detailed in previous posts in this thread. The multi connector fits in-line with the factory radio connector. Unplug from the factory radio, plug into xtron multi connector then plug the xtrons lead back into your radio. Its that simple. You dont really need any of the separate wires for basic use.

Sadly that would seem not to be the case with my 2007 freelander. The connector on the back of the radio is totally different to the xtrons one. More pins. Also it does not have a acc wire or the aux which is in a separate plug. The good news is I have it all spliced in and working now. I have documented it on this thread:
