Hi all after taken my Freelander to get looked at as it was making a tapping noise from the engine. It turns out that the noise was from cyclender number 1 as pistion was moving as it was loose in side. So the answer they have told me is that it will need to be re drilled at a cost of £3,333.60 witch is more then I paid for the car it self. Is it better to just get a recon engine and fit it after all I don't know a lot about cars and this is my first land rover. so does anyone know were I might be able to get one from and how much it will cost about or should I just give up and get another car all togeather?

Presume you mean rebore and new Pistons, depends if you can do the work yourself as to costs, I think 3k is a bit expensive !
Agreed, and for that reason alone, I would be getting a second opinion from a good indy in the area. If you don't know any, ask on here and hopefully someone will recommend one.
