I have had a look thru past threads but cannot find any answers so starting a new thread before any bugger says anything.

Have got 97 Disco 300 Tdi, justed had fitted new clutch, bearing and strenghened clutch arm, system has been bled BUT cannot get 1st gear with out forcing it in. Ditto with reverse.

Is it something I have missed, not done, overlooked, or do I have a new problem.

Didnt have these problems before clutch change.

All/any help/advice gratefully recieved.

Many thanks

Did my clutch last week, But before this had trouble selecting first and thrid. Now i found that a 10p had dropped down in between the gear stick, and the gearstick housing. Maybe worth alook. Sound really silly i know but maybe something dropped down when you took the centre console out.
cheers alex

it is a complete bitch bleeding the clutch - i gave up puming mine, and left a brick holding the pedal down for the weekend - it bled itself!!

Just another thought again really stupid, but the pin which clips to the end of the clutch, is still attched, and located into the slave is it.

I had the same problem on my disco 2, repaced slave and master cylinder which made no difference, Turned out that the brand new clutch kit was faulty:mad::mad::mad: Guy i bought the kit off had had a few kits returned with exactly the same problem. New jit supplied and all working great now.

The clutch i pulled out of mine last week had been in less than 12 months, It was a borg and beck so not cheap. The clutch hub rivets had sheered off so springs everywhere lol. Hope you get it sorted as it can be really anoying, when you just want it runing right.

Have you tried ezzybleed. A pressurised bleeding system may resolve the problem. I would be extremely miffed if the gearbox had to be dropped again. Not heard from you since Saturday.

have u got the correct clutch arm?

mate had that issue on his disco - he was supplied the wrong arm as such he couldnt select 1st or 2nd

Thanks for the info posted. I will have a go at bleeding the system again. If its any further help, I used a Valeo clutch and bearing, Britpart reinforced clutch arm plus new clips and pins. I am not expecting any of these to have failed but then again any thing is possible.
