Hmm, whilst this has inspired me to something about mine at last, what if the current situation is that it's pretty 'clogged' with this treacle like deposit at the moment and all I do is this de-activation ... will the clogging-up just stop, will it get any worse or will it actually improve?

Mine's '52 plate with hardly any Service history after the first 30,000.
Give it a good clean and, once deactivated, it will stay clean.

Thanks for the tip, I'll wrap it up and took it up out the way similar to yours at the week-end whilst I'm giving the EGR a clean out and de-activate!
Appreciate your help guys.

Looks nice in RED

How much was that hose kit from DPH ?

Without the air intake hose but with the S shaped, the cost with clamps is £125.
The air intake hose is relatively cheap but generally considered unnecessary.
Compared with standard hoses the silicon ones are pretty expensive.

Thanx for the positive feedback chaps, the total cost was £171.43 inc. clamps, VAT, and p/p. As Johnny Cash once sang "I got it one piece at a time" but it cost me more than a dime, :D but I think it was worth it in the end, as the original hoses were past thier sell by.
White spirit works wonders in the engine bay.
Now loooking into LED lights :)

Sorry to resurrect an old thread, I've just ordered the 2 piece in blue.

My engine bay was a gooey mess, an on investigation the 90 degree pipe had a 2 inch split! Everything is full of gunk, so a quick dig out with rags and a short term repair on the pipe with cling film, tape and zip ties to make do for now.

Feels a lot smoother, but when the turbo spools up, it does sound like a hair drier in the engine bay! Hoping these hoses and a good de-gunk/EGR kill stop all my woes.

I've still got the original plastic engine cover on, and the foam underneath is a right mess. Is it worth replacing, or just getting shot of the whole cover?

You are wise.

It looks ugly, and without the the engine doesn't look half bad. The oil issue from split hoses do keep it looking shiny. Think I'll bin it next time the bonnet's up. The oil cap cover doesn't secure properly anyway. Besides, If I'm forking out for expensive coloured hoses, I might as well see them!

Funny you mention the oil cap cover. Mine doesn't stay on properly either and when I opened it there was oil around the tray bit. It looked quite fresh so I'm guessing someone slipped when topping it up and wasn't careful enough/mopped it all up.
