I;ve just fitted new bilstein shocks all round. Overall a big improvement, but whenever I go over a particularly big bump, with a sharp drop off I get a relatively loud twang from left side. Sounds like spring being held back and then released suddenly.

I've checked that shock is on tight, bushes all seem OK and anti roll bar linkages fine, same with ball joints. Airbag doesn't seem perished or worn out.

Would appreciate any advice on what else to check. Could the noise be coming from something other than the spring/shock? Could EAS compressor make this noise?

Problem solved - the cowboys at the local LR dealer fitted the rear shocks to the front and the front to the rear. As they are not the same length the shocks were being stretched to their limit as front wheel fell away from bump.

Being refitted as I type. Hope they are not damaged.

Wao I just did mine and those shocks are labeled. How did they miss that? I would look for another dealer if I was you.

Unfortunately closest other dealer is in Kampala, Uganda. Another country and about 11 hours on very potholed roads. I'd probably need new shocks by the time I got there.
