Hi the bcu got some water inside it and i have got a crossed b flashing on the lcd display and a beep coming from the dash and the hazards lights or indicators aren't working and the engine won't turn over, so i have ordered a new bcu for the car however i'm wondering if it's just as simple as fitting a new one or will i need someone to do some programming? i'm not too worried about the keys remote locking, would really just like to get it running lol thanks guys

BCU is not plug and play, you will need a nanocom, Hawkeye ( or I think testbook) to install and reprogram a substitute and if you are buying a used one make sure that it is in an unlocked state otherwise it may be impossible to install.

You can simply defecate on that when it comes to a Td5 cos it's useless for other than ABS codes

Cheers i had to save up for a nanocom, got it the other day although i'm pretty useless with it, i've plugged it in with the new(second hand) bcu and i'm basically locked out of everything because the ecu is immobilised although it learns security code with no issue but it won't give me any information from the bcu and says "cannot start communications with ecu" i've checked all earths and wiring but still stumped as to what could be causing this lol

No diagnostic tool would comunicate with an immobilised BCU... did you simply repaced the BCU then connected nanocom or it was fitted before and you tried to start the vehicle with it?...if you took any action wih the replacement BCU before connecting nanocom then most probably you immobilised it so you'll need another if you dont know it's EKA code
Yes i fitted the bcu a while ago and tried to start the car with it, it wouldn't start so i left it until i got a nanocom and then tried to start again today which is when i ran into these problems, do you think that it is telling me it can't communicate with the ecu just because of the bcu then?

If you tried to start the vehicle or locked it with an unprogrammed BCU you immobilised it so if you dont know it's EKA then it's useless

The ECU must learn the security code which is not enough, you have to synk the fob(s) to the BCU as to be able to unlock the vehicle or set the alarm in BCU to "not fitted" and disable the immobiliser everything before you try to start the engine cos if you try to start it with a BCU which has the alarm/immobiliser enabled and the fob not sync'd it will immobilise itself and even though the engine ECU knows the security code the BCU doesnt send it

First of all learn how to use nanocom and what can it do, there is a video for D2 key programming here https://www.nanocom-diagnostics.com/downloads and if you have nanocom related dillemas there is a forum there too
