Hi, not sure if this the right forum page etc (as in new), but I just wanted to get some advice from other LR owners that have purchased vehicles from LR dealerships.

I've just (yesterday) had a test drive of 2015 Disco with only 11000miles on the clock. It's advertised for 37,500k and it's a 2.0L Petrol auto HSE.

I would normal check websites like "WeBuyAny" etc to get some sort of idea as to what the price of this vehicle should be etc, but non of them can "find" the vehicle when I put in the vrm. - this could be due to the fact that the above vehicle was due to be exported but for some unknown reason it wasn't and the dealer purchased it from a private LR auction (well this is what the sale person told me).

My real question is what sort of discount / "money off" should I be looking to get as I will be a cash buyer (excluding a part exchange of my Kuga agreed value at £7k), - I'm so rubbish at negotiating.

The vehicle is on UK plate and registered in the UK. It's got

I assume thats a discovery sport aka the new freelander?
Only model I can think of with 2.0l petrol?
Might be more relevant question on the D3/4 forum? google it some good people on there with new and nearly new discos.

In my experience with Land Rover, you'll get one or the other a part x bid that your happy with, or a discount which will depend on the dealer/sales person month end target.
You may not get a cash discount, when I purchased my disco it was discounted only because the 1998MY was also in the showroom and so although marked up as £32000 I received a £5500 discount but made up by the fitting of accessories plus a couple of free full services.
I couldn't get a discount when I purchased my Range Rover back in 1987.

Thanks everyone for responding.

Lynall, yes it's the it's the new freelander.

Good idea about the other forums. I will look it up.

Freelance - I might suggest that to the dealer. As i think there would only be a 30 penalty for clearing the balance on a finance deal.

Discool - I will also ask for extending the warranty as it runs out in 2019.

I would be careful about buying a vehicle that was destined for export - you might have trouble getting parts for it.

It may have parts specific to the destination - eg security fobs and pickups that operate on different frequencies etc.

You may have more luck identifying the vehicle by tapping its VIN into this site...

That site often gives a comprehensive "build sheet" type afair and you might be able to identify destination specific parts.

I would have thought these are global region specific and the frequencies controlled by law to stop the risk of interference of other services. It would be against the law for them to be sold out of region surely?

Cheers

I've just spoken to DVLA and they confirmed that the vehicle is shown as "in trade" and registered here. I was also able to find the vehicle details on their website. So that's put my mind at easy.

Don't know specifically on that - but who would think to check?

There are plenty of changes - eg Japanese (which are RHD) cars have the immobiliser turned off from factory. It may have a speedo with primary calibration in KMH.

Tbh if its a sport i would walk away and look at another make/model as Ive not read one good thing about them, even the parts guy at the land rover dealer wasnt to complimentary about them!
Also read the info system is very poor, a few people on the D3/4 forum have either gone to them or had one as a loan car etc and not one single person said wow nice car in fact they could not wait to get back to their own disco.

Im sure they are okay cars but bang for buck you are going to get so much more for your money with a non land rover product and if you have not owned land rovers before you may no be to worried that every proper land rover owner will think you are a plonker i dont mean that in a bad way but its the truth.

Lady up the road has just bought a skoda yeti outdoor and I have to say I quite like it, dont know what they cost but bet 25k ish will get you top spec brand new 2017 model.
