Provided you have deep pockets, a 4.6 Vogue is a wonderful RR and a joy to drive when everything works.....I've avoided the LPG Conversions-loads of people swear by them and no doubt they save loads of dosh on hungry petrol engines, but there are many, many adverse comments as well and I'm very happy with the decision- I bought my Java Black 4.6 Vogue SE 5 years ago and its been a wonderful car to drive in that time. Was a one owner car, dealer maintained, with under 50K on the clock when I bought it, mileage now approaching 130K. In the five years of ownership, lots spent on renewing air bags / compressor, heater o rings, air con condensor, heads skimmed after a slight leak noted on one side after the thermostat stuck open, window switch panel replaced, new RF receiver to stop wireless signals from neighbours doorbell from killing the battery. Now needs a blend motor replacing and the passenger door lock stripped and repacked as its stopped responding to the fob. Other than that, the usual replacement batteries, tyres, brakes etc. Nothing cheap. But nothing more wonderful than the burble of the great happy 4.6 V8 on a long cross-country journey.....I've left the in-car upgraded Clarion stereo with Harmon Kardon speakers etc in place and still enjoy the excellent sound it produces. I had a Smartnav system fitted years ago when I bought it and still use the subscription. I can't really see a reason to "upgrade" to an L322 or a Sport, unless I happen to come into masses of money, in which case I'd keep the P38 as well
I think the car still looks good - added RR soft bullbar, light guards front and rear and side steps and upgraded the old yellow indicators for clear ones when I bought it. The double white coachline looks good against the black and it was a Special Edition of only 100 made, with a dark tan leather interior and walnut finish. If I'd had the opportunity, I would have gone for a Holland and Holland special edition, but it didn't happen when I needed it. I'd like to keep the old girl forever now, and have no intention of getting rid - she's aging in a venerable way (I like to think I am too!!)
I intend getting a Faultmate soon as I'm tried of having to shell out on computer hook-ups and its a right nuisance having to get to a dealer with the testbook unit anyway.
Hope you find a RR to suit your wallet and your liking - lots of very helpful folk on this forum.....take the plunge, there is no greater drive than a purring P38 RR!!!!
