hello hopefully somone on her can help!, bascially i have recently accquired a 4.6 hse on a r plate. I purchased the range rover with a possible overheating problem, please let me point out in easy points the issues

the car has previously overheated once and has not run quite right since.

i collected the car with intensions of being recovered by rac at some point but after a 250! mile drive home it was faultless, stayed at half way all the time and only on a couple of occasions slighty went down if this helps then back to half way never over.

the car runs a little rough after 2000 rpm on acceleration but when cruisin settles out so only under acceleration,

when i left her stationary it did start seeping water from the little over flow from the expasion bottle and steaming but again all ok on the temp gauge!

but there seems no flow of water fromt he rad to the return pipe to resovoir bottle. i have taken small pipe of at rad top and still no water coming out it seems as if there is no water cycle? but how could this be without overheating!

please help as this is really nice car I dont want to change engine/ head if not needed thanks..................

i should have finished that with trying to hide hgf, or as above slipped linner. i would drop some water out into a bowl and see what its like, bronze bits init k seal, light brown prob iron tite..

tbh mine did not it just one day boiled up and that was it slipped linner, you will need to start looking at things, no water movement you could be lucky with a water pump.

take the pipe off both ends, the little one, if you can blow through it then poke a paperclip or small drill bit or similar down the hole in the top of the rad where the little pipe goes. then when you tart it it should pump water!!

mine was similar but the exp tank side was blocked. it will be best to investigate it properly by taking heads off and checking. and or getting a hydrocarbon test done!!

have cleared expansion bottle blockage all now circulating but still rough above 2000 rpm, i have unplugged the maf and it doeasnt make any difference wether its plugged in or not! could this be issue?

ive been told that maf sensor wouyld not come up on diagnostics? also should the car run exactly the same wether maf sensor is plugged in or not?

i had a bad miss on mine, warmed it up took maf out and took it for a run, to give it a chance to rejust and it ran better no miss fire. only yhing is it wont start with maf out when cold. hope that helps..j
