Hello all

Bought a TDi 300 yesterday. It's 1999 50th Anniversary model.

I've a couple of questions which I'm hoping some of you kind folk may be able to answer:

The window rubbers around the rear windows have started to split in the corners. Not much - about the width of a matchstick - should I replace the entire rubbers or will a squirt of clear mastik do the trick?

I'm also after a lockable spare wheel cover. I've seen a few for sale on the net, ranging from £80 to £150

Can anyone recommend where I can get a decent one from at a fair price?

Thanks in advance for any help.:)

Tim

I might be being thick ere, but didn't the Disco II come out in 99' or av you got a late registered 300? as for the lockable wheel cover, they might look good but have you ever tried to undo one in the ****ing rain! hence why I keep my rear nekkid (spare wheel that is:eek:).

Hello mate

Thanks for the reply.

It's one of those 50th anniversary models. Green with leather trim. So yes, I believe it's a late-registered 300 series.

Maybe I'll skip the wheel cover thing - just concerned it'd get nicked by some thieving gets.

One other thing; it's done 64,000 miles and, looking at the service history, never had a belt change. Should I get it done?

Thanks again

Tim

Hiya Tim,
I'm relatively new to Disco's myself, but I'd recommend some locknuts for your wheel's (inc. spare)...not all Landy owners are nice:eek:. Paddocks do a cheap cover for £14 ish
Moulded Spare Wheel Cover - 750R16 235/85R16 265/75R16 - Paddock Logo

As for the cambelt, I've been told to change them between 30k & 40K otherwise they could snap without warning (this coming from an independant landy mechanic of a lot of years experience). 1st thing I did when I bought my Disco was change all filters and the cambelt (but I do it with every car I buy as a precaution).

Hopefully one of the more experienced forum users will chip in with some better advice for you as well.....enjoy yer Disco mate.

Try ebay 330271403892. In Manchester i got mine from him and if your nearby he will arrange collection...Tony

Thanks for the replies folks. Sorry for the delay in responding but I've been AWOL for a week (not literally):D

SOunds like the belts need changing sharpish. Does anyone know of a decent Landy mechanic in the Peterborough/Stamford area?:)

i had splits in my window rubbers too, they didnt leak mind so all i did was fill em with black outdoor silicone, they look great now-no problems and my splits were about 1/2" wide!
