I´ve been looking at OS maps, downloaded ViewRanger´s app, as well as checking local council´s website for possible TRO´s, but really, I just want to start off with an easy drive, when I can take the family for a picnic.

It´s my first 4x4, so go easy on me!

Any suggestions in North Yorkshire?

TBH. Your best bet is to either go with a small group of people who have done it before (3-5 vehicles ideal). Or join a local club and attend an arranged drive.

While green lanes are technically not off roading as they are roads, i.e. on road driving. You will sometimes need off road driving techniques depending on the terrain and location.

If you are new to 4x4's, then this is something you don't want to try on your own. Even seasoned professionals can end up needing a tow.

Thanks for the advice, much appreciated.

I´ll have a look at some local clubs.

I really didn´t want to venture out on my own, certainly not on my first outing, and end up getting stuck somewhere or driving down a wrong path.
