How long have you owned it & do you now it well !! if so id be spending the money on it
rather than buying a motor with someone else's problems.

What's wrong with the steering box the D2 I just bough is like driving in a 1950 film ffs
im not sure if adjusting will sort it.

Pas boxes are expensive, but should last for a long time. They're not a complex part to swap, so why not risk a used one from someone breaking?

I thought mine wasn't going to go through the mot (very minor weep) so purchased a used one - all of £35 for one off a running truck with no visible signs of leakage (D1 4 bolt adwest - not 100% D2 are the same, but I'm sure you still won't be looking at £700)

Was quoted 250 for the pump as pattern ones don't last

Repair place reckons new boxes best bet as SH ones are mainly worn and refurbs are running out of decent cores.

5 years, solid chassis, strong engine, FF diff lock, working ACE

The thing is, you obviously don't want to keep swapping them, but it's not like it's an engine out job. If you fit a £50 used Pas box and it lasts another 2 years, it's not a terrible deal. If you're doing a complete restoration, then, sure, get a new one, but for a used truck, do you need it to last another 15 years?
