Need speakers for my Freelander

Hi guys,

I picked up my 51 plate Freelander TD4 last Friday. I soon noticed that the sound quality is complete ****. It has a nice Alpine head unit so that can stay, but I need to do something about the speakers. There's hardly any low frequencies at all...

Any suggestions for speaker replacements?

I've used some nice 16cm JBL's in mine. Sound quality is great and they're slim enough for the window.

I've also got a 12" FLI sub in the rear cubby hole.

It's enough to compete with the chavs in maccy D's car park and drown out their chav ****.

Alpine themslves make some with a good low end response in 160mm.

The main problem I found was the standard fit does not have the mounting points equidistant around the edge so some work is required to get a good fit to the door skin for best quality sound. Separate tweeters will also improve the lows.

Mine came with the underfloor sub but with a liner and dog mat little was getting out. As I am not into a roaring bass the door speakers properly set up sufficed. Lets face it, its a car so you don't expect hi-fi.
