Whats this site for if its not to advise people on jobs like this?

You need to have a long think about it, the 200Tdi is a bit rough, and you'd have a fair old bit of work so unless the V8 bodyshell is really good then it could be easier just to buy a complete 300 Tdi disco, which is a much nicer thing than any 200.

That said, its deffo doable. You'd need a complete 200Tdi car to go at really, as your also going auto to manual so there's the trans tunnel to sort out as well as clutch pedal/master cylinder.

Engine mountings on chassis might be different. Check your fuel tank as the V8 might have a pump in tank (for the petrol injection fuel rail) whereas the 200Tdi uses a mechanical lift pump.

Engine electrics are straightforward, you'll need to get the glow plug harness and relay off the 200Tdi, then arrange a feed from the ignition live onto the pump stop solenoid. Plus whatever mods you need to reach the temperature sender and alternator etc.

Only other electrical job is bypass the starter inhibit switch (off the tranny) and sort out the reversing lights.
