evening all, my 2009 110 tdci has suddenly developed a nasty vibration that literally shakes the full truck badly, it gets worse the faster I go and doesn't stop, it stops when I dip the clutch or ease off the throttle so can only assume drive train, there is also something started squeeking from the rear and a loud clunk majority of time when put foot down or just totally random for no reason also from behind me (almost sounds like in back of cab dcpu) - any ideas ?? I can't find anything loose

I can imagine! Grab the prop, twist it, shake it, lift it etc. Watch the UJ/ rubber joint for movement. The UJ should be greased regularly, a fooked one will be dry and rust stained.

Yeah that's the thing everything now has a think layer of sticky black so can't see condition of anything I'll try give everything a bloody good shake and see if anything moves - could I remove rear prop and see if cures ?

sounds to me like it may be the coupling between the gearbox and transfer box steel spline shaft they are assembled dry and can get contaminated ,and start to shear generally clunky and noisy first then loss of drive :(

Nice Landy!

Prop UJs - Get under grab a prop and move it around, it shouldnt move, should be pretty solid.

Panhard rod - Solid rod on the front axle, should be solid with little to no movement

search

Steeting UJs - Pop the bonnet, tis on the left of the engine, give it a wobble, it should move but not too much.

Drop arm ball joint -
Goose neck arm below the steering box, they often fail and cause judder

Also check worn swivel bearings, little harder to test but can cause bad judder.

Also double check that your wheels are 100% balanced.

This may help too -

Cheers Gents, Gatso - is this coupling visable at all ? It doesnt feel very steering related as its not felt through the steering wheel its the FULL truck that just shakes badly like im driving over cobbles at speed

Are your tyres all OK?
Are your wheel nuts tight?
Start at the begining, with the bits that make contact with the road, and work backwards through the drive train towards the gearbox from there.
Something should show up!

joint not visible but you often get rust coming from a hole at the bottom mating face to gearbox joint
