hi im quite new to landrover's but i just got rid of my disco td5 for a 200tdi defender 110 and its great apart from it has a slight vibration/rumble when on a neutral throttle at around 40+ mph, i originally thought it could have been a uj but i was underneath it today and they dont really seem too bad one of the rear does have very very slight play but nothing which i would say could cause the noise im experiencing, also rotated the props and got what i think is within the limits which have been posted on here, there was a slight play on t case output front prop and rear diff very slight play in output but thats as far as i got if anyone could give some pointers it would be greatly appreciated
p.s it also has a slight clunk when setting off almost like taking up slack in drivetrain
thanks
paul

My money would still be on the UJ causing the vibration. There shouldn't be any discernable play in them.
Prove it by removing the prop and run it in diff lock (put the nuts back on the handbrake drum though!).
The clunk will be the A Frame ball jount.

Do a search on clonk! Transfer box input shaft? Remove PTO cover on back of transfer box and inspect the state of the spline. Search here and there will be some pics or google

well i have ordered a full set of uj's this evening so i will give them a go and seems like i will have to look for the a bar ball joint, i read genuine LR are the way to go not cheaper crap, as for the search i will give it a go now thanks for the help

well had my new uj's but it has ****ed down so i cant report back if my problem is solved yet hopefully its the uj's and a bar ball joint and not something more expensive, thanks for the replies as im new to these its good to have opinions of more experienced defender owners, i will report back soon as i fit the new uj's
