i just get her running right and she boots me in the balls again :mad:

i noticed the foot brake was low effort so thinking it just needs the drums cleaning out so i took the beggars off put them in the lathe and skimmed bout 5 thou off the drum surfaces and roughed the shoe pads up a little with the emery cloth and noticed a shoe return spring hangin off one shoe from the top half

so being the smart arse i am i reattatched this spring to the opposite shoe so they both return over the slave cylinder

put the whole jobbie back together and tried the brakes wich just dropped right to the floor till the 2nd pump of the pedal so instantly fookin indicated to me the snail cams want adjusting a little

now its apparrant the snail cams are doing **** all :boxing::wtf:

has anyone got any suggestions for this new conundrum :confused:

Hi mate

what setup do you have std 10" or 11" on the front, have you by any chance turned them the wrong way and loosend them off instead of rotating them the right way to adjust them not telling you how to suck eggs like :)

i dunno wich way to turn them untill i strip the fekkers down again but i cant imagine what the snail cam sits against or how it holds the 2 shoes out equally as from what i remember from earlier today it looks like the snail sits against the inside of just one shoe or is there something missing that farmer giles before me has mertilised

more to the point why has this **** started just because i put a sodding spring back on between the two shoes when they worked perfectly without it

snail cam sits against post that spring secures too or similar depending on type ,are shoes wrong way round post only sits against cam properly the right way round

gonna have a reet bloody good fettle with these snail cams tomorrow and take a few piccies aswell as im sure i can make these bastids perfect

so here we fekkin go again ding ding .........rrroooouuuuunnnnnd 2 :boxing::boxing::5bsmash::5bsmash:

I guess the problem has arisen because the slave cylinder is now returning and being compressed by the spring. Where as before it was just staying out. Sounds like they just need adjustment. Jack up the front end. Turn the wheel while you turn the snail cam until the wheel locks up. Then back off one or two notches. I usually adjust mine so they drag very slightly. The drag goes in no time at all.
Sometimes it's hard to feel the notches if they're worn smooth. I filed lumps back into mine.
