All,

I need your help again!! How many breathers are their on a 2.5NA diesel engine. I know of one from the rocker cover to the inlet manifold. Is this the only one??? I know you all have the answers.

KInd regards

Kevin.

Not on the engine that are important no. There is a breathing hole at the very bottom of the timing cover (behind the crank shaft pulley), which is there purely for heat expansion purposes should it fill with oil (it can't because of the hole!) as well as the gearbox (transfer box???) and both axles, which have breathers to allow the pressure to escape when the oil heats up.

That crank case hole and the one at the bottom of the clutch housing are to ensure no oil gets in there!

Other than the one on the top, there are no other breathers on the engine.

Why do you ask?

I always thought that the hole at the bottom of the timing cover was to let oil out when it starts leaking from the front oil seal? I forgot about the clutch cover!
