Mystery Series Gearbox Bits

Finished fitting the Series 3 box today and been for a test run and well pleased. No nasty noises, crisp selection and syncho all through

Only concern is when I drained the old oil out I found these little chaps sat in the drain plug......Looks like a spring steel strip about 1/2'' wide...

Any ideas as to what it is....or rather was.....?

Looks like part of the reverse gear selector but it should sit on the outside of the box at the bottom of the gearstick. Strange animal indeed.

Yeah, I was thinking along similar lines but maybe the clip that holds the 'whatever it is round rubber thingy' in place on top of the gearbox.

Doesn't seem to have done any harm on its way through the box.....Just mildly interested in whether the rest is about to explode in a spectacular display of teeth and bearings

theres nothing like that on the outside ,usually 3rd 4th get harder to select

B*gger....that looks like the chappy. Syncho is working fine........Is that about to change?
