the other day my wipers were a bit slow - thought it was because the windows were dry. today driving home in the lovely rain they died half way across the window. 
it seems a fuse had blown. we swapped it for the rear wiper one and YAY they worked....slowly - after maybe 2 wipes they died again. checked the fuse again and it had blown again. it was a 15amp that was in and replaced.
oh! its fooked then!
could try ****e loads of wd40 in the motor, but dont switch em on till it dried off a bit, coz it could be interesting
after much searching etc and a fleabay purchase of a haynes manual for £6 inc p&p - i tried the very technical above suggestion. hooray it worked!
