My windscreen wipers stop half way down the windscreen!

Hi guys
my windscreen wipers stop about 6 inches from where i'd expect them to stop. it's really irritating because i've constantly got them in my view when i'm driving.

i know someone on here said something about a park switch??
what's that, how do i find it and what do i do with it??

also, they dont do a fast wipe, they do intermittant and normal speed but when i put them to fast they just stop where they are. with the recent shocking weather this is somewhat annoying. any ideas?

what type of vehicle do you have? what year is it? A few basics would help.

If you have a defender or series then the park switch is found on the wiper motor and is easily changed. They cost about £10 and are the most likely cause of your problems.

If you have a disco, freelander or rangerover then you need to change th whole motor as the park switch isn't available seperately.

oh yer sorry, it's a 1993 200tdi defender.
does it just come out like a fuse?

not exactly. Check out the piccy below. There is a clip that locates it in place. It's worth either making a note of where each wire goes or take a photo that you can use when re-attaching the wires.

I'm on my 3rd defender and ALL mine have parked ok. My first landy needed a new park switch and I've just bought one for my current one as I have recently lost intermittent.

we have seven , none of them park cept for on the newish td5

whats wrong with fitting a new park switch to em? In some cases you can even get away with cleaning up the contacts on the old un.

theres nothing wrong with it at all . having read this thread im going to try and sort them out on my defender .

cheers, i'll give the contacts a good clean tomoro, by the look of it( covered in mud, clay and dust) it will need a good clean... do i just pull it out?

hi guys, how o i actually get the park switch off the wiper moror? is it just pushed in? i dont wanna pull it if it's going to snal pr anything! have i missed a screw somewhere?

look at the piccy I posted. You will see a clip on the side. It just slides into place.
