Hi everyone I have a defender 90 300tdi and when I try and engage the transfer box I don't get a dash light. Is this normal and what can I do to troubleshoot and resolve this issue. Thanks in advance you lovely people.

There’s no light for the low/high range transfer box.
Low/high range is forward/back and diff lock is left/right on the lever.
There is a light for the diff lock. Often the diff lock is rarely if ever used, so doesn’t work. Try holding the lever over to the left for a few seconds to see if it engages.

Make sure you understand what you can and can't do when you have difflock engaged, Do not drive it on normal tarmac roads as you can cause transmission 'wind-up' and induce heavy steering as well as potentially damaging components. Read the user manual first. Ps have you checked the bulb ?

Why have you got a transfer box light and I haven't?
Does it light up underneath with a nice blue light or is it hidden inside it?
Does it come on if you waggle your thingy first?

The light is the 5th one from the left bottom row in the picture of a defender td5 dash, its a yellowy orange colour

Testing diff lock video

Remember the light sometimes does not come on until wheels have turned a little and diff lock engages, if it has not been used for a ling time the link or switch may need freeing off.
Light does not come on when engaging low range, its only for diff lock.
