OK, fout penneth worth:-

and should fly throught mot

If it would fly through an MOT, why haven't you invested £40 taking it for one?

Rhetorical question, but first one to be asked when any-one sees such a comment.
Fact that it doesn't have a test, suggests, first, that it wouldn't get one, which means that theres work to be done, and probably expensive work, second, suggests you are being less than 'honest', which doesn't give the rest of your add 'credance'.

IF you know it would pass a test, get it tested; without its ticket a car is a useless pile of parts, and a spares or repairs project; with one, its a viable useable vehicle, and the difference in value far more than the £40 to stick it in to test.

If it WONT pass a test, say so, better still, get it tested, and list the fail sheet items, so people have some idea of how big a project they are taking on, AND get some confidence in your trustworthyness.

If your 109 is still for sale could you send me some pics please?
You had a 'bite' two and ahalf monts ago..... Did you dend him pictures?

I presume NOT from the fact thgat you haven't added any to the advert.....

But the hints there; pictures sell cars. I dont know why you didn't add a pic, but very little excuse for not doing so.

It's not hard, and I'm sure you could beg borrow or steal a digi-cam, if only the one on some-one's phone to get something on disc you could upload here. If you want to get some interest, get some pics up in the advert.

2.6 Straight six; starts and drives mint and should fly throught mot; good bulkhead; safari roof; free wheeling hubs; low mileage 56250; lpg system
Description...... Terse.

There is very little in there to exite any-one, and it lacks basic info.

I presume, from the fact you mention it having a 'safari' roof, its a five door station waggon? In which case, the safari roof is simply the one with the alpine windows in the curve of the top panel; do you mean the 'tropical' roof, which is the second skin over the top? Or am I up the wrong track, and its a Six pot commercial, with windows? anyway, presuming I am sort of on the right lines, this is the sort of description I would write:-

Land Rover, 1976 Series III 109 2.6 six cylinder Five door County Station Waggon

Very original, and increasingly sought after, Six cylinder Land Rover.

This model has the 2.6l six cylinder engine, rather than the more common 2.25l four cylinder variant, and was praised in its day for its smooth and refined power, which is as good, and some say better, than the later 3.5l V8 that superceded it.

Many of these vehicles, though, were unfortunately fitted with non standard diesel engines, or V8's, and un-molested examples like this one, are now increasingly uncommon.

This one, fitted with an LPG conversion, running costs are as good or better than most diesel conversions, without the reliability problems these usually have, and with the ready power usually only found with a thirsty V8.

Being a genuine five door, County Station Waggon, the car has the benefit of two rows of forward facing seats, as well as two side facing seats in the rear, making it a genuine 12 seater.

It also benefits from features such as headlining and trim, which were not usually fitted to Land-Rovers of this vintage, as standard... I mean they didn't even get wind up windows! But this one, also boasts the factory optional 'Tropical' roof, with both alpine windows in the roof, vents, and a secondary insulating skin.... sort of low tech 'air conditioning'!

With the power & refinement of the Straight Six engine, the ecconomy of the LPG conversion and the seating and 'trim' of the County station Waggon, this is very viable 'every-day' classic Land-rover.

That six cylinder engine, gives the car enough power to keep up with modern traffic, and not struggle at junctions like the four cylinder versions, while the LPG kit makes it ecconomical to run. The seating and trim, make it a useful 'family' car, while being a Land-Rover, and so original, it retains the rugged, reliable, simple and easy to maintain mechanics they are renouned for, and everything is just like the diagrams in the manual.

The condition of this car is NOT concours, it is an 'every-day' classic, which means it has had a reletively easy life, but it HAs been used.

It drives brilliantly, and is structurally 'sound', with a good bulhead, and Factory Option, Fairey Free-Wheeling hubs, though it doesn't have Tax or MOT.

Tested on, 28th July 2009, the fail sheet details the following items:-

1/ Leaking Swivil Seals
2/ Hand Brake efficiency impared
3/ Play in off-side rear wheel bearing

{etc etc etc to final comment}

These are common Land-rover faults, and the model is incredibly well supported for spare parts, as well as being very easy to work on.

Priced at £600, as I need the space for other projects (or whatever)

And Lastly; LZ's for sale section is a little obscure; if you want to shift this car, then you need to advertise as widely as you can, so put the same add, WITH PHOTO'S up on as many forums as you can to gain maximum exposure, maybe even e-bay.

It's certainly not vastly over-priced; but with peoples finances the way they are these days, people are weary about taking on a project, and every-ones looking for a bargain.

If its a genuine CSW, then it should sell, but first you have to get any-one to take any notice of it, and convince them its not a huge do-do that will never see the road again.

And SELL the fact that its a genuine, and unmolested six pot, becouse they ARE rare....... and they ARE better than the four pots.

Thing is, LWB Landies take a lot more selling than SWB ones.

You've got the gift of the gab teffers.

Why dont 109's sell anyhow, I spent ages looking for ours, I wanted something that we could sleep in.
I could allways put a load of crap on an ad for mine about its 300tdi engine, allthough to be honest if I was buying one that had been bashed I'd be concerned about the workmanship.

Hope you sell your bus soon mate.

I paid about that for mine, no tax or test, so there are people daft enough to buy it.
