Morning all,

So, just back from holiday, left the Rangie with the missus to use for the dog and whilst I was away she said she got the console lit up with loads of messages. Been having some alternator issues anyway, so know this is the issue.

I have recently had the cables replaced to the alternator as a last ditch before replacing but anyway.

I told her not to drive it, and today, I planned to jump the rangie and give her a good run to get the charge back (Alternator is a little flakey it seems).

So, my problem,

Went out today, pressed the key, nothing, put the key in the drivers door, nothing, it wont open the door with the key at all.

This means I cant get in to open the bonnet to charge the battery :-(

The battery is only 5 months old, so I know its not the problem.

Any ideas? Should the key let me in?

Thanks

Tim

HI Rob,

Problem I have is, I cant open the door at all ;)

Have spoken with the missus, and she assures me that she didnt deadlock it, so will give the coat hanger a go..

Will let you know

Tim

hi there, try the boot/tailgate. when in certain 'modes' the doors will not open but the boot will. try unlocking/locking and the tailgate each time. if it opens climb through and open bonnet/door

So, I called my Mechanic my one in Dudley, and he said the easiest thing would be to get AA out.

So they came and he put his battery pack on the stater motor which fed power to the battery.

This then allowed me to open the doors using the fob :)

So, starting happened ok, but no charge from the alternator, so need to find one of those now :-/

Any ideas of a good supplier?
