ive just found some great info on exhaust emissions related to gaskets...........................................BUT IM NOT GONNA TELL YOU NOW....NAH NAH,NAH NAH NAH.

it was on his 200TDi fitting fred - i think he used the Disco airbox. I know he posted piccies.
Was it the one involving using the original one but behind the alt and putting it in upside down, but moving the windscreen washer bottle to the back of the bay?

All the ways i've seen of keeping the original air box seem to involve a lot of piping round the engine which is going to badly restirct the intake and i'm keen to keep it as simple as possible, but without having the intake dreckly in line with the pulleys and (fan) (brackets coz i int got one)

Problem is the turdo inatke is really close to the alt so it needs a bit of a wiggle there, then the PS res is in the way and the oem air box is too big to fit that side! This new box i got (basically a KnN in a pot in a tube!) is much smaller so i think it should fit quite neatly.

Oh dear. Personally, I also to fail to see why some people type egghaust and injun and all that other turd...but hey, if it makes them happy, let it go, it's not worth worrying about oldminiman!

here is a copy of the Rave -which clearly shows inlet manifold gasket only - and jointing paste for the exhaust. Having said that - It would appear that later manifold gaskets are complete inlet&exhaust - so I would go that route.

i had the combined inlet and exhaust gasket on my 1981 petrol series but jointing compound would probably do a good enough job.
*** mi perkins injun'd series has nay gaskets on the eggsauce, 'sall gasket glue and beer cans huddin it the gether and it leaks less than the old welderd one!! ***

*** loonyzone translation: Gasket Glue and Beverage containers are used exclusively on the exhaust system on my Series Three with Perkins engine conversion. The system is far superior with far less leaks that the original welded system. :D

Many thanks for that. I must admit I think it is the better route to follow. I will have to see what Paddock send over to me & I would probably have problems getting the correct jointing compound in France any way, making myself understood would be the first hurdle. Thanks again
