Hallo, thought you'd like a giggle at Ol Blue travelling home the other day. He went to the garage for a new tyre and I think all the excitement got a bit to much for him and he just huffed out at a junction and refused to start again.

Loved the breakdown driver - he was a big fan of old cars and told stories of all the local Landies he regularly rescues including a nice white defender 90 that we always wave to. I wanted his number plate which was ****MUD.

Anyway the good news is all that was wrong was the battery. Alternator fine, and now have the truck's old one in him which is a bit too big for the housing but at least he is working again.

Did they not even attempt to fix it?

Nope, the guy said he could give it a jump but was worried if it was something else, I'd end up broken down again a few yards down the road. I had the kids with me and we'd been waiting a while so was quite glad just to get a ride home without any more fiddling about.

I had something simila happen a few years ago...first RAC man said "it's the battery" I questioned him and he assured me the alternator was fine. He gave me a jump start and off he went. I drove off and about a mile down the road the alternator started smoking..the rest of the journey home was on the back of a recovery truck
