I've been a proud owner of a Discovery 3 for about 2 years now and I've been tinkering here and there, getting it modded just as I like it for off roading and green laning, but I've kind of hit the point where everything I want to do to it now is either not available, or too damn expensive (close to a grand for heavy duty winch bumper! o_O)!
So with that being said, I saved a little bit of cash and got myself a project Disco 1 to do up and use my Disco 3 as my daily drive. I've entertained all sorts of notions for it, from turning into a lifted monster truck to tackling a 6X6 conversion, so I thought I'd run it past you fine people... any ideas? pictures of your own for inspiration? warning to sell/burn/stay away and spend my money on fuel instead? :p
Below is it getting picked up by my mates deafner, and then nose to nose with it's new brother :D

As you have a D3 for daily use go proper off road with the D1, lift it, big wheels n tyres, winch bumpers front and rear, snorkel, cage, the full monty.
Then use the dam thing, so many do all the work just to look cool.

Well you did ask.

I'm seriously tempted to go the 6x6 route :D I've got a friend who's selling me his disco minus the engine for spare parts (he has good chassis/bad body and I have bad chassis/good body) and I know some very good welders as well, so making it initially into a badass 6x4 wouldn't be too much of a stretch then the difficulty would be getting drive to the rear axle.
I'll definitely be putting it to use, there are several landy owners on camp and we go laning regularly, being only an hour from Salisbury Plains helps :p

I have just bought a d1 commercial and I'm happy keeping as it is.In five years time they will be a rare site on the roads and they can be bought for little money at the minute.
