Hi all, been lurking here for ages, decided to become legit :)

My driveway is currently bereft of a green oval, but I'm hoping to remedy that soon.

I had a red Defender 200TDi which I sold on after completely sorting the interior and making it a nice place to be, a decision I rue to this day.:frusty::frusty::frusty:

My 90 was replaced by a rather ragged 110, which I intended to make nice, but I just never got on with the car - it had a lot to live up to after my 90, and it just never cut the mustard.

I am now looking for a nice Discovery, preferably a TD5, although a well kept low mileage 300TDi is also a possibility. Taking time as there's some real tat out there, and the good ones are either far away or go quickly.

Anyway, here's my 90 in the snow with my mate's silver TD5...

…and the 110 on the ferry to isle of Wight

Well, hope to get to know ya'll and maybe meet up with some of you close to me.

The search continues...

Thanks guys. Took my mate to the local LR specialist to fetch his wife's Freelander, took a turn past a used 4x4 dealer, spied a blue Disco lurking in the back and within 20 mins had done a deal on it with p/ex on my Golf. Job done. Its a 2002 V8, full house, 7 seater, few niggles and needs a good clean.

Pick it up this pm. :)

arrrggghhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh.

have you done a thorough check, and i mean THOROUGH check of the chassis, especially the rear sections and especially round where the fuel tank is.did i mention,CHECK IT WITH A FINE TOOTH COMB,then CHECK IT AGAIN.

I haven't looked at the chassis fine-tooth comb style myself, but when I drove the car, I took it to the Landy Specialist that has been maintaining it for the last 4 years (they're highly regarded in the area and on this forum) and asked them about the car, any possible issues etc. They went over their records, and found nothing that rang alarm bells - said the previous owner looked after it well, and spent what needed spending on it. It was the wife's daily runner, used to cart her young children around (as evidenced by the aroma of milk and biscuits in the car :) ) It was taken as p/ex on a Disco 3 by the dealer, and they have quite a solid reputation in the community.

But yes I'll have a good look today just to be 100% sure - I know that can be expensive to fix. Waxolying will be one of the first things I'll be doing to it.
Thanks for reminding me - I'd much rather haggle over getting my deposit back than fork out ££££ for a new chassis. It's overall in lovely condition, will polish up very nicely after a good clean, and the niggles are central locking actuators on two of the doors.

Welcome to the forum Tiger Hunter, but I must ask how many tigers you have to shoot to qualify to use such a name? Did you use a machine gun or a 12 bore? Welcome :)

Nice spot there Nigel :clap2::clap2:
Yes, definitely a machine gun :violent:

Actually the screen name comes from my days on the Classic Mini forums (I'm also a Mini addict - have owned 7 so far..) :) :)

Its' one of my favourite quips from the Italian Job.

Garage Manager: You must have shot an awful lot of tigers, sir!!

Charlie Croker: Yes, I used a machine gun.

I was thinking along these lines when I asked about your name, the 'Italian Job' is definitely the favourite film of both myself and other half :)

your mum and dad are well cool calling your "tiger hunter" but i bet you got some right hassle at school with that one.
