Well have own my Disco for a week now and have started modding a little..
Had some work needed doing, so got those sorted first, window and central locking and a oil leak which I think was coming from rocker cover, noticed the bolts were loose so hoping that's it.

Then had to sort the slowness issue, luckily it was all set to mechanical so adjusted pump etc to make it a bit quicker, and wow what a difference.

Exterior was not bad considering, no rust underneath which was a shock on a 95..

Got it cleaned and then went straight off road lol.

Interior was horrible and smells like wet dog.

Seats were horrible so they had to go, so drove up past Cardiff to collect for a steel..

Now time for custom home made homebase snorkel... Don't judge can not afford a proper one and I like this because most of the pipe is hidden.

Can not take credit for snorkel as my mate done it for me, he is a legend!!!!!

Diff guards and steering guard ordered, diff guards turned up today, will fit them in a bit, just waiting on steering guard.

Be gentle with me as doing this on a budget, as running 4 cars and a bike and misses is due in august... :)

Love that snorkel, can't beat a bit of DIY!! Interior looks a load better, the cream seats seem to get filthy.

Cheers bud, my mate is a top bloke, going to try and get him on here. Got a few other bits need doing but trying not to go crazy. Going to get some water proof seat covers but don't want to go crazy on spending.

nice snorkel and good step by step pics might attempt it with mine now I can see how it's done

Cheers bud, much better than paying silly money. :)

Looking good mate, just rejoined as couldn't remember log in lol, must get mine repaired so we can all go out :)

Awsome have you got the last 2 numbers on the VIN ?? i bet they were made together!!

My tints have faired fine, but the seats …. they are a wreck mate honest i put seat covers on them , i had to weld the back ones back together !! and after a massive VAX and JIFF session the interior has sort of scrubbed up and the cheap option for the seats ….. seat covers Genuine LR nice fit then ripped the mouldy boot carpet and sound deadening out and replaced it with a genuine LR load liner so i can keep an eye on the rusty boot floor (going in the same places as yours)

I pulled all the carpets out cut the sound deadening out and left it to dry out for a month. the source of the leaks are the roof guttering and the rear door seal as the rear door needed adjustment.

When i got it it was in a right state but that reflected in the extremely small price i payed so cheap i though the police would be knocking at the door!!

Jobs done list;

New timing belt - old one had smashed the idler and jumped
both swivel rebuilds
brakes all round
ABS ecu
ABS wiring
ABS sensors X2
All wheel bearings adjusted
Front and rear anti roll bar links and rubbers
new headlight and washer jet and indicator lens
repair/weld window mech N/S
repair door catch N/S
Re-fitt what the previous owner had removed when he tried to fix it, a none runner so bag of bits for fuel pump rocker cover pipes etc etc
repair interior
weld rear arches ( not were you would expect!)
new tyres
un-stick hi/low and diff lock (clearly never used)
repair air con wiring harness
repair cruise control mechanical and electrical
seal roof gutter to stop leaks
adjust rear door
Major service inc axels and all fluids engine twice it was so bad
repair SRS System (wiring)
Repair radio amp and wiring
adjust steering box and replace seals
repair battery Body earth
Repair wire harness for lower rear lights
repair wire harness for front lower fog lights
repair N/S/R door lock catch dropping
Re-shultz

Thats about it LOL not much work just to get it up to standard would hate to think what a garage would have charged bet it would have ended up on the scrap pile.

Just had another look at the pictures of yours and how similar they are is un true. Tweeters roof lining sagging at back, the list goes on.

How did you go about fixing the roof leak?

Used Sikaflex nothing else comes close silicone is rubbish and will peel away i took of the plastic trim then ran a 5mm line all round smoothed it off with a cloth then refitted the trim i done this all round solved the leak then i adjusted the rear door this solved that leak

Welcome to the forum :)

Firstly, VERY nice job on that snorkel, best home made I've seen!

Advice:

Cut the top of the snorkel down as far as you can to get it tight to the roofline, else it will easily get swiped off, snorkels take a battering at the best of times so make sure that bracket's good too.

Whip those front arch liners out whilst you're there, they only make rust.

Also finally, take the diff guards off after every off road outing to get the diffs cleaned up, else the mud packs in and rots your pan out, the wraparound type prevent this but cost more.

Cheers, Sam

Damn it already put the new roof lining in and just siliconed the holes.......

Thank you Sam I will do. Just fitted the steering guard and roof lining today, so haven't fitted the diff guards yet. Is it worth painting up the diffs with some under seal?

Little update, steering guard fitted, roof lining fitted ( only issue is it's the one with sunroofs and mine isn't, although it is so much better) rear door cover fitted which has the little sub box attached, roof rails sealed, carpets steam cleaned.

Box of service goodies.. Cheap as chips come to £25 including brake switch 3 wiper blades, 2 oil filters for some reason, oil washers and air filter..

Managed to find issue I had getting car out of park from time to time, it was a faulty brake switch.

20140508_174158_zpsbb2swfu3.jpg

Really strange as aftermarket one has a longer button, as orginal is shorter which is why a piece of rubber was glued on. Although the new switch is broken so have had to order another one as it was my fault for not checking upon delivery today.

Little bit worried also as noticed I had to top up oil today and also water is nearly empty, real strange as no white or blue smoke out of the exhaust when driving, but noticed I have a loll leak. Really hope it's not head gasket, even though no trace of water in the oil, or on the inside of oil cap.
