I have a late 2011 Freelander 2 which intermittently "gets stuck" on slow, left hand turns (I find myself going straight on when I should be going round a corner). I thought it was a power steering fault (having read about others having problems) but this fault seems to affect more mature Landy's. The garage checked out the PAS yesterday - the fluid is clean, there are no blockages and the pump is working fine. I'm now starting to think the problem maybe elsewhere. Has anyone else had a similar problem in a post 2010 Freelander? Any help very gratefully received.
Thanks

Does the steering wheel and wheels turn towards the left but the car just goes straight on or do the wheels still stay pointing forward as well?

If the wheels are turning towards the left and the car is 'scrubbing' forward then presumably the transmission is 'winding up' - ie the Haldex unit is in a sort of 4WD Lock mode.

The steering wheel just freezes - you really have to yank it to turn. Then your hear a little clunk and it's fine again.
Thanks

Sounds like the steering lock is catching it's slot, jamming the column until you use more force. It's sounds extremely dangerous to drive to me.

I don't know if the car is still under warranty. Regardless of whether it is or not, I would be calling JLR direct (not a dealer) and asking them to sort out a 4 1/2 year old death trap. You would hope they would be eager to help.
