my first problem!!

Knew I was tempting fate last week when I said I'd had no problems in 3 months of owning my 2001 Td5!

does anyone know how to manually remove the cd autochanger cassette?

yesterday when I switched to CD the unit said 'CD error' - tried all 6 slots - same thing - thought it could be dust in the unit so pressed the green button on the changer to eject the cassette - nothing happened just a clicking/whirring noise - tried the unit again & it now said 'no magazine'

read through all the posts i could find on the subject & found about sliding credit card in & to one side to manually eject it , thought great problem solved! - tried it & nothing , so got a torch & stuck my head in the drivers footwell to have a good look .

the tray with disc no. 3 is slid accross preventing the cassette from ejecting but the head unit says 'no magazine'- have tried to flick it back with screwdriver - no luck.

any ideas anyone - don't really want to go to extent of removing seat just to get at the unit. have tries disconnecting/reconnecting battery to 'reset' the unit - no good it seems to be stuck.

its not the end of the world - i use my mp3 player with it anyway - its just that the sound quality of the cd player is so bloody good!! & i want the cd's that are trapped inside

its the R990 high line model btw

thanks

yer might have to remove it and take the cover off to free it up.. be aware that there are springs inside them that like to go WHEEEEEEEEEE! and end up behind the cooker

cheers Slob,

removing seat to get at it is the last resort (although looking at the rave cd it doesn't look that big a job), was thinking of changing the standard unit for an mp3cd changer anyway - so may leave it until I get that sorted or hope that it frees itself going over a bump.

It's just that my mates Seasick Steve cd that he lent me last week is stuck in there and he's bound to want it back:D

If it thinks there's no cassette in the changer then you may have unseated it slightly. Try pushing it fully back into place again.

If that works and the cassette is now "seen" then try selecting a different disc on the head unit. This might get the stuck one back into place and enable you to remove the cassette. Other than that I think it's a removal job, sorry :(

Yeh thanks, tried that - tried pullin' , pushin', tappin' etc.

think it's gonna be a removal job. - there were 2 cd's left in it when i bought it so i wonder if its happened before.

is it full? because if you leave empty slots in them things they can move about when empty and get jammed..
i bought one from ebay and it had the empty magazine in it during posting. when i got it it was jammed and no amount of persuading would get it out. in the end i had to dismantle it to remove the mag.

then one day me son took one out to copy and the fooker jammed again. so now it always has 6 in it.

Got the same problem happen to my P38 system. Can see a disk stuck half in half out of the magazine thing. Be interested to know how you get on and then I can try the same fix with mine.

yours is in the boot innit ? - easier to get at - I've got to disconnect electric seats, seat belts & unbolt & remove drivers seat to get at mine

just been lookin at alpine mp3cd changers online - model no CHA-S634 for discovery £144.99 mmm?

naw! the bits that go wheeeeeee!! , go wheeeee if yer not careful poking about inside. yer ok just taking the cover off..

on mine i had to dismantle some of the workings to free it up, you might not have to, in which case yer bits that could go wheeeeeee! wont go wheeeeeee!

Yes, but it's like Slob said, if theres bits that go WHEEEEEEEEE and end up behind the cooker when you take the lid offyou could find out first and let me know!!!!! Will take mine out at weekend and have a look.

Oh I see - its okay for my bits to go WHEEEEEEE! but not yours - anyhow haven't got a cooker in the garage so i should be alright.

might have a look when i get home tonite if the lure of the deckchair & a fridgefull of beer doesn't distract me :D
