The big empty whole from where the v8 was, now to prep the engine bay for the 200tdi including cutting off engine mounts and welding on the new ones

So when I separated the gearbox from the transfer I found the output shaftsto be.....well.....virtually gone! So cheaper to buy another box than repair it. So another box came along for £150 and got to see the splines before I bought this one and believed to only have 84,000 miles on it.

Before refitting the engine and box thought I would take the opportunity to flappy disc the whole inside of the chassis and re paint it but not sure I have a pic of it painted. First a coat of zinc primer then a coat of black hammerite (smooth)

Sorry buddy not on face ache used to be but I found myself wasting so much time on there I deleted it years ago. Do you ever take your Landy out for a play local?
haha no worries!
havnt done much this year as bought and renovated our first house and got married so has been a bit hectic!
got a 110 as a daily driver / play toy
a td5 110 that a project I havnt started yet and a 90 project! to much going on!!

I know all to well about enough projects to keep you busy and congrats on getting married, if you ever are going for a play in the mud/woods let me know and maybe go out to get stuck lol

Thank you!
is there much up around your way?
Don’t think so, I’ve only had my landy on the road 6 months but been looking into places like green leisure where you can pay and play either your own or rent a disco from them witch I was going to do when mine was v8 because the rental was only like £90 the day and mine would have drank nearly that lol but now I would use my own truck. Been Thinking of a guided trail in wales so as me and the wife get a weekend away with it.

Put some black paint on the bumper today as it may not be finished but it is ready to accept the winch but who can really say something is ever finished when you enjoy adding and changing stuff so much

lovely looking bumper that is, nice detail. I like the fact its not just box section got a nice contour going undernieth it
Why thank you, yeah I wanted it to be like a sled underneath so if I did come to a over Streep climb it would not just dig in. It’s made of a bog standard winch plate then 6mm plate steel.

Is it normal to use a steel winch cable with that style of fairlead?

Cheers
I’m not sure really but it was already fitted when I bought it and my dad doesn’t use a fairlead on any of his 3 winches just straight through the bumper and we use them winches for static caravans and most are about 6 to 8 ton but the truth is I don’t know if it’s right but it will be fine lol

Regards Nathan

Anyone up for a thread revival? Ok so as an update I still have this old disco and have been driving it as my daily since starting this thread back in 2017. Since then iv given it another +2 on lift blocks totalling a +4 lift now had to do the caster correction front arms and slightly longer rear trailing arms as well as a wide angle A frame joint. Iv also added a full roof rack that’s used as a mobile work platform. Here is an update picture of the old girl looking a bit grubby as we are on a hose pipe van at the moment.
