Ok, I hope everyone’s still there.

Here’s what I have for now. The Vehicle didn’t have a battery in so I couldn’t run the engine and the very busy seller who also turned out to be running a repair, restoration, and renovation workshop guaranteed the engine.

I looked at the chassis and bulkhead and besides visible rust spots on the chassis they looked fine to me considering the overall condition. The engine is petrol four cylinders with a carburetor. He offered to replace it with a bigger engine if I wished so at a cost of course.

I took some photos I am attaching a few. Does this look like something to consider any further?

The 1986 Land Rover is a pickup truck and in much worse condition with visible rust cracks on the chassis.

it's a good job that you can't start the engine, because the hose from the air filter is missing!

Looks like it's in decent condition underneath though.

is it the 2 1/4 or the 2.5? I heard the 2.5 was a pretty decent engine. In terms of power, I think the 2 1/4 is meant to be about the same as my 2.5na diesel, which is pretty underpowered to be generous to it, but I still like it, and it's never let me down :)

That someone else is taking care off...so in case I decide to have it replaced for more power, what petrol engines fit this model? We can only run on petrol for commercial use over here.

So you mean if it’s the 2.5 petrol engine then I can live with it for some time and put the money elsewhere.
It seems no one can identify whether this is the 2 1/4 or 2.5 by just looking at it. Is there a nameplate usually somewhere on the engine? I couldn’t find one.

Cheers

The engine number will help if you can find it.

10H, 11H, 13H - 2.25 Petrol
10J - 2.25 Diesel
12J, 13J, 14J, 15J - 2.5 Diesel
17H - 2.5 Petrol
19J - 2.5 Turbo Diesel
